Ever notice how people texting at night have that eerie blue glow?
Or wake up ready to write down the Next Great Idea, and get blinded by your computer screen?
During the day, computer screens
look good—they're designed to look like the sun. But, at 9PM, 10PM, or
3AM, you probably shouldn't be looking at the sun.
During the day our screen should
look bright and it makes the display look like that but at night it
should be bit relaxing to the eyes, this is what this tool does.
It's even possible that you're staying up too late because of your computer. You could use f.lux because it makes you sleep better, or you could just use it just because it makes your computer look better.
f.lux makes your computer screen
look like the room you're in, all the time. When the sun sets, it makes
your computer look like your indoor lights. In the morning, it makes
things look like sunlight again.
Tell f.lux what kind of lighting
you have, and where you live. Then forget about it. F.lux will do the
rest, automatically. This means you have to feed F.lux with two vital
pieces of info if you want it to be efficient: “Indoor lighting” and
“Your location”. F.lux automatically proceed to track the sun’s
position(day or night) in your zip(pin) code or latitude, and make the
appropriate display adjustments.
F.lux will set the screen
monitor bright during the day and gradually dim it as evening
approaches. At night, the screen will take a “halogen” tinge – an orange
kind of hue. The lighting software will automatically adjust the color
temperature of the computer monitor.
F.lux is not suitable for design
work, there is an option that allows you to disable F.lux for 60
minutes, so you can get your work done in that amount of time, and then
reactivate it. This is a freeware and supports WinXP/Vista, Mac os x and
Linux operating systems.
